Essential Steps

Here are our key recommendations to ensure your spray tan is as beautiful as you are.

  1. If you wax, make sure it’s 48 hours before your tan.
                 Waxing counts as exfoliation, but it’s more intense. Your skin needs time to heal and for any irritation to fade.
  2. Manicures and pedicures are best done 24 hours before your tan.
               Manicures and pedicures are full of massages, lotions, cuticle grooming, and a host of other activities that can interfere with the spray tan’s ability to look natural on your hands and around your nails. Leave enough time between your mani-pedi and your tan so all that activity has a chance to calm.
  3. Exfoliating your skin 12 hours before the appointment is best.
              We know not everyone has the ability to exfoliate twelve hours before their appointment; that’s okay. But if you can, using a gentle body wash and your exfoliation tool of choice (loofah, body brush, etc.) will help remove dead skin cells and provide a smooth, fresh canvas, ensuring the spray tan adheres evenly to your skin.
  4. Skip the lotion, perfume, and deodorant.
              Lotions and the like create a barrier between your skin and the outside world, which ordinarily is what you want (to keep moisture in and dryness out). However, they also create a barrier between your skin and the spray tan, meaning your tan is less likely to stick and look natural.
  5. Wear loose, dark clothing.
             While spray tans dry fairly quickly, wearing loose, dark clothes will help ensure the tan doesn’t rub off and stain light colored fabrics.
